Fighting the Opioid Crisis

A new outpatient medication assisted treatment clinic open in Denver

DENVER, November 7th, 2018 – As the U.S. declares the opioid crisis a national public health emergency, Denver, CO welcomes a new type of clinic with a special commitment and compassion to recovery. Urban Peaks Rehab is unique, because it is 100% staffed by people who themselves are in recovery.

Urban Peaks Rehab opened its doors on the corner Colfax Avenue and Lafayette Street October 1st 2018 offering medication assisted treatment and therapy to patients struggling with substance use disorders. Medications like Suboxone, combined with outpatient individual and group therapy have been shown to significantly increase a success rates among patients who are looking to get, and stay clean.

Medical Director

Dr. Chad Johnston, who is also the clinic owner, has a very personal connection to his patient, he himself has been sober for 18 years. His philosophy is simple “What is best for the patient? It is about the patients. It has always been about the patients.”

Urban Peaks Rehab introduced itself to Denver by participating in the National Rally for Recovery as an official recovery Ally with Advocates for Recovery. Clinic Manager Kristin Barbieri and Recovery Community Liaison Brittany Kitchens are not only dedicated to their patients, but also dedicated to making a positive impact in the Denver community as whole. Their first community project was running a clothing drive for Impact Humanity (an organization that helps Denver’s homeless population) during their opening month. The clinic’s reviews speak for themselves.
“Urban Peaks has the best staff! Dr. Chad Johnston, Brittany, and Kristin have played major roles in my personal recovery. These people genuinely care about us guys!” said one patient.

Other reviews sing the same praises. “Absolutely amazing place! HUGE key in my recovery we’re Dr. Chad and his girls!” said another patient. “They are humans who are compassionate and passionate about helping people.”
